2023 47TH DISTRICT ANNUAL MEETING DATE

TIME HAS CHANGED TO:

Saturday, June 24, 2023-

12:00 PM

Location:  Mountainview Community Center

WHY WE CHANGED THE ANNUAL MEETING DATE & MEETING TIME:

The budget year cycle occurs for MMLMD from June 1 to May 31.  During the Quarterly March and June  meetings, the budget is proposed, discussed and approved.  The date change more closely fits this time schedule for approval and implementation  of the budget.  Porters' Lake District  had already booked their annual morning meeting on this date... so for this year, we have to meet in the afternoon.

LAKE DISTRICT VS. LAKE ASSOCIATION
What's the difference?

A Lake Association is primarily a voluntary group of people who share a lake and voluntarily share expenses to maintain that lake. There are officers who determine policies and budgets for the Association. However, collecting funds is mostly an informal process subject to variable support and cooperation by lake residents.

A Lake District is an official unit of Wisconsin government set up by Chapter 33 law and is comprised of elected individuals from the shoreline property owners in the District. The District Board determines a budget and collects required taxes from residents (based on property size and value) to provide revenue to administer District needs and activities.

Mount  Morris Lakes is a Lake District, not a Lake Association. It can be said that the difference is:

"A Lake Association collects people;
a Lake District collects taxes!"
