The budget year cycle occurs for MMLMD from May to May. During the Comissioner's meeting in May, the budget is proposed, discussed and approved.
LAKE DISTRICT VS. LAKE ASSOCIATION
What's the difference?
A Lake Association is primarily a voluntary group of people who share a lake and voluntarily share expenses to maintain that lake. There are officers who determine policies and budgets for the Association. However, collecting funds is mostly an informal process subject to variable support and cooperation by lake residents.
A Lake District is an official unit of Wisconsin government set up by Chapter 33 law and is comprised of elected individuals from the shoreline property owners in the District. The District Board determines a budget and collects required taxes from residents (based on property size and value) to provide revenue to administer District needs and activities.
Mount Morris Lakes is a Lake District, not a Lake Association. It can be said that the difference is:
